Post RockStock in a bit of a jam
...with the Mapex Brass Master snare. It's a wonderful snare, probably my favourite of the Snare City add ons.

I spent an hour this afternoon jamming with the kit on Ninjam. Here's a six minute edit:

(The Ninbot site (as opposed to Ninjam) has a neat online jam editor to help catch those more magical moments... :))

nice test pljones!
you get a really natural drum sound, i love it.
did you process the drums track per track? some info?
and, do you use close, room or both samples?

i´d appreciate a lot if you make some screenshoots and the midi file for your drums. i´d love to get that sound.:)

thanks,

Thanks :)

I use Close and Room loaded up together, both set to the same level, as near as I can (low enough to avoid any clipping - the samples are loud compared with some I have). No other processing. So long as I didn't change anything in my setup since last November, the levels are -11.6/-11.7 for Close/Room, both out to the same stereo pair, with the track at zero DB.

The session is mixed automatically by the server to try to keep a consistent total volume over some period of time (which can be annoying at times).

I don't have the MIDI, I afraid: the piece performed live and recorded to audio by the server (and in Reaper).

Here's another outing for RockStock - still has that huge sound I love...
20130120-1612-edit01-pljones-DirtyDeeds-bandcentral-Arn_nonA
Arn_nonA on bass (everyone else had left).

Unlike the above, I've started capturing the (audio) recordings and doing my own mixes of late (http://peter.drealm.info/jamming for the lot - use the filter to show only the GoDaddy-hosted ones to get the ones I've mixed). This has been processed to keep the overall level from clipping, plus trimming at the start to avoid a long-ish drum-only intro. Overall level then raised slightly more. No other processing.

Great to hear RockStock in action. Are there still plenty of people on Ninjam these days?

Busier than ever, I'd say. Quite a lot of old timers plus passing strangers.
